Abstract:   The next flagship supercomputer in Japan, replacement of the K computer, is being designed to be operated in year 2020. Compute nodes, based on a manycore architecture, are connected by a 6-D mesh/torus network. A three level hierarchical storage system is attached to the compute nodes. A heterogeneous operating system, Linux and a light-weight kernel, is being designed to build suitable runtime environments for applications. After introducing this next flagship supercomputer, we will present how system software is being designed with the leverage of international research collaborations.
